Bringing Visibility to Funding Gaps in Latinx Communities
Challenge
Latinx-led nonprofits in Boston play a critical role in addressing public health, housing, immigration, and economic challenges. Despite their impact, many remain invisible to many power brokers and philanthropists in Massachusetts.
The Greater Boston Latino Network needed a way to translate research findings into a compelling narrative that highlighted both the scale of unmet needs and the real human consequences behind funding gaps, making the case for greater investment and support.

Strategy
Moira developed a concept that reframed funding gaps as human impact, shifting the report from data-driven to people-centered storytelling. The creative approach visualized “gaps” not as abstract shortages, but as individuals and communities left unreached. Circular graphic elements were used to isolate and highlight those affected, reinforcing the idea that each missed resource represents a person without access to support.
A bold yellow palette, aligned with the Greater Boston Latino Network brand, served as a visual call to attention, emphasizing urgency and visibility. Typography choices reflected the strength and diversity of Boston’s Latinx communities, incorporating an urban, confident tone. Together, these elements created a cohesive system that made the report both visually engaging and emotionally resonant.
Results
The final report elevated complex research into a clear, impactful narrative that resonated with stakeholders, funders, and community leaders. By centering human impact, the work strengthened the case for sustained investment in Latinx-led nonprofits and made funding gaps more tangible and urgent.
The Greater Boston Latino Network now has a visually distinctive, story-driven asset that supports advocacy efforts, reinforces its leadership voice, and advances conversations around equity and community-centered solutions
