March 30, 2018

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Our final Women’s Month team feature is Capri DeBiccari–Moira’s Community Manager! Our newest team member is a strategic wiz who can craft content out of thin air.

Describe yourself in three words.

What’s your morning ritual?

I get as much sleep as I can. I prepare everything I need the night before so I literally don’t have to do anything when I wake up other than get dressed and brush my teeth – I don’t drink caffeine, so sleep is all I have! I also am always listening to a podcast, almost as soon as I wake up. My favorites are We’re No Doctors and WTF with Marc Maron. The most important thing though – I GOTTA HAVE MY OATMEAL. Plain, unsweetened, boring a.f. oatmeal. Then I add a bunch of nuts and seeds and coconut and other good stuff to it. I’m a wellness and organic food freak; I can’t think of a better way to start my day.

What do you do to get your creative juices flowing?

I’ll usually read some articles online about things I’m interested in – travel, food, design, etc. If I have a little time, I’ll watch a stand up special on Netflix or something like that – I’ve found a great way for me to access my creativity is just to laugh. Also, COOKING! It’s one of my favorite ways to be creative and my mind wanders so much in the process – it’s so calming, too. That being said, sometimes the only thing that works is going to a yoga class and clearing my mind.

What advice do you have for women who want to break into the field of advertising?

Network, network, network. Surround yourself with women in your field – ask for advice, ask to get coffee, ask about different career trajectories and how you could get there. LinkedIn is your friend – don’t be afraid to reach out and introduce yourself! Lastly, examine your sanity. Just kidding, kind of.

What was the biggest obstacle you faced to get to this point in your career, and how did you overcome it?

My biggest obstacle has been me and my own indecisiveness. I wouldn’t say I’m completely over it, but I try to make time for all of the things I’m interested and want to try so I never feel like I missed out on anything. It’s easy to think the grass is greener, but staying focused on my own happiness and paying less attention to other people has helped a lot.

What is your favorite social media platform and why?

My favorite social media platform is INSTAGRAMMMMM because it’s such a great way for people to express themselves. I love looking at people’s feeds and learning about their interests, as well as seeing how they visually set up their pages. I also use it to help plan vacations, create recipes, and find new restaurants to try. My last job was running the Instagram for a huge media company and I really liked being able to to just have my head in the feed all day– I was introduced to so many cool accounts!

What’s your favorite brand? Why?

I love brands that are self aware and don’t take themselves too seriously. Think Taco Bell, Charmin, and Skittles. I also love marketing that’s a little weird. Nobody likes when something seems self-important.

What are five things you couldn’t live without?

  1. Whole Foods
  2. My Netflix, Hulu, & HBO subscriptions
  3. Baths
  4. My phone
  5. Yoga

Would you rather live without pizza or ramen for a year?

I’d rather live without ramen, but the loss would be hard to endure.

What is your favorite thing about working at Moira?

My favorite thing about working at Moira has been the fact that we produce wonderful, high quality work without taking ourselves too seriously. We know what we’re doing is important, but we are able to recognize that laughing, taking a break, and having balance in our lives helps make us better. Always having a team that’s down to eat ramen for lunch is cool, too.

We’re so proud to have such a talented group of women working together in the male-dominated world of industry. Happy National Women’s Month to every femme-identifying reader out there!
